Educating San Antonio FAmilies in dental health
for over 30 years

Dr. Scott Hebert, DDS (pronounced A-Bear) — Board Certified Pediatric Dentist

Scott Hebert, DDS (pronounced A-Bear) —
Board Certified Pediatric Dentist

It is my personal goal to help your child have a healthy smile and to teach him or her good dental habits that will last a lifetime. I have been practicing pediatric dentistry on the Southside of San Antonio since 1988. I graduated from the University of Texas Dental School San Antonio in 1984 and soon after I was assisting in public health services in Laredo. I later returned to San Antonio and completed an additional two years of specialty training in pediatric dentistry in 1988. I have extensive experience in restorative dentistry, sedation and hospital dentistry.

I consider it a great privilege to treat children and recognize how important it is for young patients to have positive dental experiences while growing up and have made that a priority at SSCDC. For me, it is the greatest compliment of all when my former pediatric patients grow up and return with their children so they too can have that same memorable dental experience they had as a child.

I was born and raised in San Antonio and graduated from the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Dentistry in 2012. After spending time working as a general dentist, I returned to the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio to complete an additional two years of specialized training in pediatric dentistry with a strong focus on sedation dentistry and treating special needs patients.

You may catch me singing the SpongeBob theme song to young children during dental treatment. When I'm not treating children in the clinic, I love spending time with my beautiful wife and three bouncing boys.

Board Certified Pediatric Dentist

I am originally from Puerto Rico with a very strong medical background. I was taught from an early age the importance of taking good care of patients, since both of my parents were doctors in Medicine. I received my doctorate in Dental Medicine from Universidad Central del Este in the Dominican Republic and completed an additional residency specializing in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Science Campus. I trained in oral conscious sedation, special needs, and medically compromised patients. My distinguished performance during those training years allowed me the opportunity to serve as the Chief Resident.

I have presented research data and case reports for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Academy of Pediatrics. It is of utmost importance that I continuously advocate for the special needs patients and undeserved populations and I serve in multiple dental missions to deliver dental treatment to remote populations.

I am a board-eligible candidate with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry as well as a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Texas Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Dental Association. I go to church and am actively involved in my community. In my free time, I walk trails with my husband, Andre, who served in the US Army, and my son Noah. I also enjoy trying new restaurants in San Antonio!

Joseph S. Olea, DDS —
Family Dentist

I graduated in 1995 from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio Dental school and I was fortunate to open my family practice next to Southside Children’s Dental Center. I have served the people of San Antonio for 25 years, and I am grateful to continue to practice in the same location with such distinguished professionals, not to mention the state-of-the-art, advanced equipment.

I was born in Ohio and graduated from a local high school, then continued my education at St. Mary’s University. I’m fluent in Spanish and have practiced dentistry in Mexico and Guatemala through missionary work. I am married to a San Antonio native and have two wonderful children. When I’m not at the office, I have mountain biked in Colorado, road biked from San Antonio to Corpus Christi and enjoy riding the Texas hill country.

Doris Zercher —
Office Manager

I am the office manager for Southside Children’s Dental Center. I was born in Banbury, England. When I was two years of age, my father was assigned to Lackland Air Force Base. This is how I came to live on the south side of San Antonio. A fun fact about my self is that the base housing where my family lived was located at the corner of S. Flores and SW Military Dr., exactly where our office is now located.

I have worked with Dr. Scott Hebert for over 30 years. Before working with Dr. Hebert, I worked as a dental assistant at the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio for eight years. I was able to gain valuable experience and knowledge in many different dental specialties working in the university system.

In 1989 I came to work with Dr. Hebert as he opened his practice. As with any significant endeavor, building a practice of quality and efficiency has proven to be an exciting and challenging journey. Being a part of the development and ongoing progress of Southside Children’s Dental Center is one of my greatest accomplishments. I work with a great team of dental professionals whose shared vision and goal is that every patient is treated with respect and that they receive a consistently high degree of great dental care and education.

I enjoy my job and consider it a blessing and privilege to be able to serve our patients, our doctors, and our staff. When you visit our office, stop by and say "Hi"! I look forward to meeting you!

I have worked at Southside Children’s Dental Center for most of my career and loved it. Working with children makes me very happy, and I am proud to help shape good oral health.

I graduated from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSC) in 1989 as a dental hygienist.

I am married to a wonderful man, Robert, and we have two sons, Anthony and Patrick. I enjoy running and walking and have even done several Rock-n-Roll ½ Marathons for fun and health benefits.

I treasure working and living on the Southside of San Antonio. It is my pleasure to continue serving this community and educating children and parents in maintaining healthy and happy smiles.

Deanza Mims, RDH (pronounced D-on-za) —
Dental Hygienist

I graduated from the dental hygiene program at Howard College in Big Spring, Texas. Native to the big little city of Midland, Texas, I moved to San Antonio to get a feel for the big city living. I enjoy spending time with my three children, Elijah, Mia, and Cameron, whom I love and adore. Knowing early in life that I loved a beautiful smile and how helping to give someone their healthy smile back could truly make a difference in their self-esteem, I decided to go to hygiene school. I love working with children and I believe starting things, in the beginning, makes an impact. Working in a pediatric office has helped in my endeavor of changing lives one “little” smile at a time.

I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene from the University of Texas Health Science Center in 2013 and soon after joined this amazing team, SSCDC.

I truly enjoy working with children and believe in educating the younger generation about the importance of having good oral habits and how to maintain a healthy smile in between their 6-month check-ups. My number one priority is to treat each patient like family and provide them with the best dental experience and have them leave our office with a smile on their face.

When I’m not in the office, I love spending quality time with my family and friends. I especially enjoy being outdoors, exploring new places in our beautiful city with my husband and our dog, Rocco. Seeing how much San Antonio has grown makes me excited for the future, for myself, our office and our community.
